CBI files chargesheet in NRHM case

A chargesheet was filed on Wednesday in connection with an FIR registered on 18 January this year regarding siphoning off of funds from the National Rural Health Mission, NRHM. Pradeep Shukla, IAS, the then Principal Secretary, Health & Family Welfare of UP government, is one of the accused in the case. 

The CBI on Wednesday filed a chargesheet against against Dr SP Ram, the then DG, Family Welfare, Saurabh Jain, Director, SRJ Infratech and a close associate of Babu Singh Kushwaha, Suneet Singhal, Director, CNC Metal Forming Ltd, and CNC Metal Forming Ltd. The chargesheet was filed in the court of AK Singh, Special Judge, CBI, Ghaziabad. 

The CBI official said that apart from Suneet Singhal, V K Choudhary, the then MD, PACCFED, MM Tripathi, the then Chief Engineer, PACCFED, AK Srivastava, the then Supdt. Engineer, Vipul Kumar Gupta, Asst. Engineer, PACCFED have also been arrested in this case from Lucknow.

It was established during investigation that officials of PACCFED, in connivance with private persons favoured the ineligible and sick beneficiary firm belonging to the accused and released payment of Rs 16.93 crores to the beneficiary firm without any receipt of material or services on the basis of false and forged documents. Out of this, an amount of more than Rs 13 crores (approx) was cornered by accused Director of Moradabad-based firm which was used to pay alleged bribes to public servants and also invested in various firms / companies.

It was during the course of investigations that the CBI has arrested five persons on Wednesday.
