CBI arrests Ggn Civil Judge for wife’s murder

Ravneet Garg was produced before special CBI court Panchkula on Thursday, which sent him on five- day remand. 30-year-old Gitanjali, a native of Panchkula, was found dead on July 17 in high security Police Lines area in Gurgaon. The post- mortem report had mentioned that one bullet hit her stomach while another bullet hit the chin and pierced through her head. A third bullet was also fired which injured her neck.

Geetanjali and Ravneet, both from Panchkula, got married in 2007 and they had two daughters. Following her murder, Geetanjali’s family had alleged that Ravneet’s family had started harassing Geetanjali after the birth of the couple’s first daughter and things worsened after their second girl child was born. Geetanjali’s brother Pradeep Aggarwal and father Om Prakash, who live in Panchkula, had also demanded a narco test on Ravneet, saying the mystery behind the woman’s death needed to be uncovered. Her brother had alleged that it was a case of murder since the post -mortem report had pointed to three gun-shot injuries and one head injury on her body. 

Gurgaon police had termed the incident as “suicide” while the Panchkula based parents of the deceased had alleged that she was killed by her husband, who was then posted as Chief judicial Magistrate in Gurgaon. Garg and his parents were booked under murder charges by the cops on the basis of the complaint filed by deceased’s family. Later on July 23, 2013 , the Haryana government had referred the matter for CBI probe. The CBI announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for information in the case and later Ravneet Garg underwent a lie detection test and brain mapping too.
