CBI arrests Delhi govt official in graft case

CBI on Tuesday arrested a Junior Engineer of Delhi Agriculture Marketing Board for allegedly demanding and accepting <g data-gr-id="22">bribe</g> from a complainant for clearing the payments. Ashok Kumar, Junior Engineer with the Board, was arrested on the charges he was allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant for clearing his payment and release of performance guarantee and Earnest Money Deposit (EMD).
“The complainant, a civil contractor, had executed civil work in Ghazipur Mandi, Delhi. CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught <g data-gr-id="18">red handed</g> while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant,” CBI spokesperson said here on Tuesday.
In a separate case, the agency today arrested an official of <g data-gr-id="16">Basseria</g> Colliery of Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL), Dhanbad (Jharkhand) while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3000 from the complainant.
“The complainant had alleged that the Clerk of <g data-gr-id="17">Basseria</g> Colliery, BCCL, Dhanbad
demanded an illegal gratification of Rs 3000 from him for preparation/process of his leave encashment bills/claim etc,” the official said.
