Case involving daughter sitting with father’s corpse leaves police baffled

In a rerun of an incident like Robinson Street, a woman had been staying with the dead body of her father for the past five days in their home at Mukhtapara village near Madhabadihira in Burdwan on Saturday.

It may be recalled, that a year ago the police had found that a 45-year-old man Partha De staying with the dead body of his sister and two dogs in their house on Robinson Street.

Police said that the local people had been complained of foul smell from the house for the past three days. They had even approached the daughter, who had claimed that her father was absolutely fine.

Some of their neighbours had forcefully entered the house as the foul smell had become intense and found Panchu Soren lying dead on the floor of a room. His body had partly decomposed and his daughter was sitting beside his body. The police went to the spot and initiated a probe into the incident.

It is learnt that the woman had requested the police to bury her father in the house itself.

Police came to know after speaking to the local people that they had not seen Panchu for the past few days as he had not come out of his house. When enquired, his daughter told the local people that her father was ill. Thus, he didn’t come out.

Senior police officers went to the house on Sunday morning as well. A police officer said that it had not become possible to question the woman as she was in a traumatised state.
