Carpet Expo generates Rs 300-crore business

The 28th India Carpet Expo and 10th in Varanasi concluded on Tuesday after four days of hectic business activities. 283 exhibitors from different parts of the country participated in this export oriented fair where 326 buyers from 57 countries registered their attendance.
The fair was also attended by more than 248 buying representatives. According to estimated figures, fair has been able to generated business of over Rs 300.00 crore.
Carpet Expo Promotion Council (CEPC) Chairman Kuldeep R Wattal expressed that this event will be beneficial to the medium and small exporters who can’t afford to display their products in overseas exhibitions on the one hand and on the other hand show the capability of India in producing and supplying quality products in time.
The fair was concluded with a closing ceremony by Member of Parliament from Bhadohi Virender Singh. In his interaction with meddia, he informed about the excellence of the Indian Handmade Carpet Industry particularly the Bhadohi-Mirzapur area and the contribution to the Indian economy.
Singh assured his full cooperation and support to take up the issues of the carpet industry especially infrastructural shortcomings of the area.
