Car rams into stationary tanker on Vikas Marg, six critically injured

Six men sustained injuries after their Swift car turned turtle after it accidentally collided with a stationary tanker at the Vikas Marg on Wednesday night. According to the police, all the injured were rushed to different hospitals where their condition is stated to be critical but out of danger.

Police said that the accident took place at around 10.45 pm when these six men — Chandra Prakash, Jai Shankar, Shiv Aggrawal, Akhil, Aditya and Prem Jha — were returning to their home in Shakarpur after having dinner at Connaught Place. A police official said: “All the six men, in the age group of 25 to 35 years, live in Shakarpur and Indirapuram areas.

They were heading back to Shakarpur through the Vikas Marg Road when their vehicle accidentally hit a stationary tanker parked on the roadside. After hitting the tanker, their vehicle turned upside down. A passer-by made a PCR call after which a team from Shakarpur police station reached the spot.”

The car was damaged and decimated to such an extent that gas cutters were used to take out the injured men. While three of the injured — Shiv, Jai and Chandra — were rushed to LNJP hospital, the other three were taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital where they are undergoing treatment.

Police said that based on the statements of the injured and the CCTV footage, they will take action against the one who was at fault.

Meanwhile, police said that they have registered a case under appropriate sections of the IPC.
