A day Akash Yadav (23),  a student of School Of Languages at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) attacked his ‘girlfriend’ on campus, critically injuring her, before killing himself, investigating officers on Thursday questioned Akash’s roommate in the case. Meanwhile, the girl, Roshni Kumar Gupta (22) is still battling for her life at Safdarjung Hospital.

Police on Thursday also again questioned all eye-witnesses who were present in the classroom when the incident took place.
Akash and his roommate, whose name has been withheld, have been sharing room 131of the hostel in JNU for the past one year.

Since Akash had been carrying a knife, cleaver, country-made pistol and poison in his bag-pack, it indicates that the attack followed by suicide were planned. Police officials are hopeful that Akash’s roommate may provide some lead in the case. 'We are as yet clueless how Akash managed to get hold of the weapons,’ an officer investigating the crime said.

A post-mortem examination of Akash’s body has been conducted at AIIMS and the autopsy report is awaited. 'We have handed-over the body to his family members. They are still in a state of shock. The cremation is likely to take place at the family’s hometown, Gaya, in Bihar,' the officer added.

Meanwhile, Roshni remained in critical condition on Thursday. Doctors at Safdarjung Hospital said Roshni was in the Intensive Care Unit after having suffered four deep injuries on the skull. Blood vessels to the brain have been damaged.
She had a major brain clot and her right wrist was badly slashed, a doctor said.
