The Directors of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), and RAW will be finalised after the 51st Annual Conference of Directors General / Inspectors General of Police of States and UTs and Heads of Central Police Organisations is going to be held on November 25-27, 2016 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy, Hyderabad.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh will be attending the Conference.

The present IB Director Dhaneshwar Sharma, CBI Director Anil Sinha and RAW Director Rajendra Khanna are all set to retire on December 31, 2016. Reportedly, for the post of Director, IB, the Special Director Rajeev Jain is the strong contender, so is the present Commissioner of Police Dattatray Padsalgilkar. But the extension of the IB Director Dhaneshwar Sharma is also not been ruled out. Adding more, the post of CBI Director, there is a strong possibility of giving acting charge to present Special Director Rupak Dutta.

During the conference the Home Minister Rajnath Singh will also directly interact with the top police officers and get their feedback about the prevailing internal security situation and various aspects of police personnel.

Since independence of India, this conference was being held at Delhi every year till 2013, but this will be the third time that the Annual Conference of DGs/IGs will be held outside Delhi. In 2014, for the first time it held in Guwahati, the capital city of Assam. In 2015, it held in Kutch of Gujarat.
