Calendar released to celebrate RD Burman’s death anniversary

Amit Kumar fan club and Kumar Brothers Music on Wednesday released a calendar comprising photographs of great musical maestros of yesteryears on the 24th death anniversary of RD Burman. Music personalities garlanded the statue of RD Burman on Southern Avenue opposite Nazrul Mancha. RD Burman along with his parents Mira and SD Burman used to stay on South End Park which is situated close to the place where the statue has been installed. The only statue of RD Burman in the country was installed by Amit Kumar fan club. It may be recalled that RD Burman has huge fans in the city and many of the fans on Thursday paid homage to the great composer and singer. The month of January starts with a rare photograph of recording room where Satyajit Ray is giving instruction to Kishore Kumar during the recording of Ami Chini go chini tomare in Charulata. In May- June one finds Amit Kumar and RD in the recording room. One gets a photograph of Salil Chowdhury playing piano. One gets some rare photographs of Kishore Kumar and Amit Kumar with father Kishore Kumar pulling Amit’s ears in the recording room. There is a photograph of Ashok Kumar whose past time hobby was painting absorbed in his artistic work. Amit Kumar said: “It gives me an immense pleasure to release the calendar 2017 of my fan club featuring various rare pictures of musical legends.” The calendar is a collector’s item particularly for those who love music.
