Cab driver arrested for molesting minor girl

A ten-year-old girl was allegedly molested, beaten and threatened of dire consequences by a cab driver of a private company in East Delhi’s Preet Vihar area on September 30. According to the police, the accused cab driver has been identified as Ravi (40). He was further sent to judicial custody.

Sources said that the incident took place on the evening of September 30 when the minor girl, who lives in the same building as the accused, was playing outside the building. Ravi, who drives a Swift car bearing a Haryana number plate, for a private company in Gurgaon, allegedly lured her on the pretext of a joy ride and ice cream.

He then allegedly took her to an isolated spot where he molested her, thrashed her and threatened the minor girl, a class V student of a nearby government school, of dire consequences if she told anyone about the incident. Then the accused dropped the girl back to her house, sources said.

Sources added that the minor girl then narrated her ordeal to her mother. After which, her parents took the girl to the Preet Vihar police station and police lodged a complaint based on the girl’s statement.

Police, meanwhile, said that they arrested Ravi under charges of IPC Sections 363 (Punishment for kidnapping), 342 (Punishment for wrongful confinement) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) at the Preet Vihar police station. He was later sent to jail on judicial custody.
