Businessman shot dead after his car brushes against another

A businessman was shot dead over a minor altercation in a road rage case after he got into an argument with a person who was reportedly driving a Ford Endeavour in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar on Sunday night.

The businessman, Deepak, was a resident of Faridabad in Haryana and was returning with his friends from a wedding in New Ashok Nagar area in Delhi when the incident occurred.

Deepak dealt in animal fodder and while returning from a relative’s wedding on Sunday night his Innova bruised against a Ford Endeavour of the accused in New Ashok Nagar area. Deepak and the accused got out of the car and started fighting. Soon, the scuffle took an ugly turn when the accused took out a pistol from his car. 

Before Deepak could actually run for cover, the man shot Deepak from point blank range. The bullet hit Deepak in the head and he died on the spot. 

Though Deepak’s friend tried to chase the accused but he fled from the spot. According to sources the police have gathered CCTV footage from the spot and are investigating the case. Sources tell that the attacker had a VIP number plate on his SUV and had an Uttarakhand registration number.

The police registered a case under IPC Section 302 and formed teams to investigate the matter and arrest the accused.

Earlier on December 2, two youth chased a shopkeeper and shot at him after his scooter hit one of them on a busy road in South-west Delhi’s Najafgarh. While the shopkeeper was critically injured, a vendor was killed on the spot by one of the bullets.
