Swiss UBS opens 1,200-seater tech back office near Mumbai

Swiss bank UBS on Thursday opened a 1,200-seat support centre on the outskirts of the financial capital to help its global businesses. It has hired 300 employees to help the group's technology function primarily and will gradually ramp up the number, the bank said in a statement, without disclosing the investment in the facility. The facility will provide knowledge process services, including research and analytics, business process services, including transaction and data processing, and IT infra support to businesses all over the world.

This is the second such centre for UBS in the country, after a similar one in Pune, the statement added. "Business solutions centers are central to our ambition to offer competitive solutions to our clients while focusing on operational excellence," Axel P Lehmann, group chief operating officer said.
