Suresh Kumar takes charge as Coal India CMD

Kolkata: Suresh Kumar, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Coal has assumed additional charge as Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Coal India Limited.
Kumar a 1986 batch Indian Administrative Service Officer of the Jammu & Kashmir cadre worked as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Defence before joining Ministry of Coal. He also served as Home Secretary of the Jammu & Kashmir for two and half years.
He was awarded the Chief Minister's Gold medal for Honesty, Integrity and Meritorious Public Service by Government of Jammu & Kashmir in 2011.
He was also honored with a silver medal in 1996 for his contribution in outstanding measures taken by him towards creating a peaceful atmosphere for elections and successfully conducting the same.
He has vast administrative experience in the field of education, Urban Development, security, law and order.
