SJVN pips MoU target, generates 9,045 mu

SJVN’s 47.6 MW wind power station at Khirvire in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra has generated 34 million units of electricity.

Surpassing the MoU targets of generating 8,700 million units of electricity, SJVN has achieved generation of 9,045 million units from its three power plants during the financial year 2016-17, said R N Misra, Chairman & Managing Director of the company.

He also informed that the country's largest 1500-MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pradesh had recorded a 103.5 per cent achievement of the targets with the generation of 7,050.62 million units while the downstream 412-MW Rampur Hydro Power Station in the state had surpassed the targets by 110 million units with the generation of 1,960.36 million units. SJVN's 47.6 MW wind power station at Khirvire in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra has generated 34 million units of electricity.

Misra further informed that Hydro Power generation being core strength of the company, the engineers of SJVN have been successful in achieving the records with efficient machine and water management. Taking advantage of the lean season, the project engineers have already completed the annual maintenance of machines in record time. The machines of the two projects are ready to perform on full efficiency during the ensuing summer season.

He further added that on account of its excellent financial performance, the company had declared the highest ever interim dividend of Rs 930.74 crore at the rate of Rs.2. 25 per share and has already been paid the dividend to the shareholders. The government having 64.46 per cent equity holding in the company was paid Rs 599.99 crore while the Government of Himachal Pradesh holding 25.51 per cent equity was paid Rs 237.38 crore, he informed. General public holding 10.03 per cent of the equity has been paid Rs 93.37crore.

He informed that SJVN has now successfully ventured into the field of Solar Power Generation with the commissioning of 5 MW Charanka Solar Power Project in the state of Gujarat during 2016-17.

Misra attributed the success of company to the hard work and efforts of all the employees and congratulated them for achievement of targets set by Ministry of Power, Government of India.
