Silver futures climb Rs 100 on global cues

New Delhi: Tracking a firming trend overseas, silver prices rose by Rs 100 to Rs 40,120 per kg in futures trading today as traders built up fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July rose by Rs 100, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 40,120 per kg, in a business turnover of 366 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month September gained Rs 90, or 0.22 per cent, to Rs 40,806 per kg in six lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants amid firming trend in global markets supported by a weaker dollar as a trade spat between the US and China intensified, influenced silver prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, silver rose 0.24 per cent to USD 16.48 an ounce in Singapore today.
