SEZ sector registered exports worth Rs 7,01,179 crore in 2018-19: EPCES

New Delhi: Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs convened its 16th Annual General Meeting on September 27, 2019 at New Delhi. The AGM was attended by more than 70 members.

While welcoming the participants Bhuvnesh Seth, Vice Chairman EPCES informed that export from SEZ sector have gone from Rs. 22,000 crore in 2005-06 to Rs. 7,01,179 crore in 2018-19 registering a remarkable growth of 32 times. Government of India has formally approved 416 SEZs out of which 351 have been notified and 232 SEZs are in operation as on May 2019. The SEZ sector is providing employment to 20, 61,055 persons in the country attracting and investment of worth Rs. 5, 07,644 crore.

Vice Chairman complemented the office of Director General Foreign Trade (DGFT) to authorize EPCES to issue RCMC to EOUs vide DGFT Public Notice No.27 of 26.08.2019.

He also mentioned that EPCES organizes Interactive Sessions/Open House Meet so that issues of EOU & SEZ are resolved. The entire exporting community is thankful to all Development Commissioners for their whole hearted support to resolves the issues of EOU & SEZ.

The General Body adopted the Annual Report and Audited Balance Sheet & Income and Expenditure Accounts of the Council along with the report of the Auditors for the year 2018-19.

After the business session, Dheeraj Lath of M/s NSDL e-Governance Infrastructure Ltd. who are working closely with various Govt. agencies for designing, managing and implementing e-Governance Projects gave presentation on e-Governance on GST etc.

During the session, the members highlighted issues related to banking with Harpreet Khanna, Assistant General Manager – RBI, New Delhi.

While proposing vote of thanks Srikanth Badiga, Member Central Governing Council thanks members for attending the meeting.
