Rise in graft both in Centre and states under PM Modi: India Inc

New Delhi: In a surprise move, an industry body has slammed the government at the Centre which is led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to put a check on corruption.
According to PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), the corruption has increased manifold at lower levels of bureaucracy at the Centre as well as in states.
While lamenting the government, Chamber's president Anil Khaitan said, "Corruption at lower levels of bureaucracy at Centre and largely in states has increased manifold even under Prime Minister Modi whereas it virtually disappeared at senior levels in the Indian federal structure."
Khaitan further said, "In contrary to the PM's commitment to root out corruption even at lower levels of bureaucracy both at the Centre and states, it has stoked manifold."
Expressing his anguish, Khaitan said, "The businesses, particularly in MSME segment which the PHDCCI represents in large number, are quite aggrieved and hurtful as it had anticipated with Modi becoming the PM close to four years ago that this segment would be relieved of mounting corruption, but the ground reality that still persist is that the lower levels of bureaucratic functionaries are still soaked in corruption."
However, Khaitan also hoped and expressed confidence that the Prime Minister would take note of this sad affair which continues even in a larger chunk and accordingly take corrective measures even at block level of every state.
It's worth mentioning that BJP is claiming to have its own government in 21 states out of total 29.
Khaitan, who was speaking at a conference on "Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016," further maintained that the Act would amount to removing blackmoney stored in real estate sector.
