North-Central Rly launches App to buy unreserved tickets

New Delhi: Passengers travelling on unreserved tickets on Indian Railways are in for good news. Now, there is no need for a passenger to stand up in a queue in order to book an unreserved ticket. With a view to make the booking of unreserved tickets more user friendly, easier and faster, North Central Railway has introduced the facility of booking unreserved tickets through mobile phone, which is now available for all the stations of the Allahabad division of NCR.

For booking of tickets, the passengers have to download the Mobile App "UTS on Mobile'' through Google play store/Window Store/App Store or I-phone.

The app, which has been developed BY Center for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) for Indian Railways, was formally launched by GM/NCR MC Chauhan for the Allahabad Division of NCR, in North Central Railway Headquarters at Allahabad on 26 July, 2018. The app is free and the users can download and install it without incurring any charges for the same. Once the app has been downloaded, the passenger has to register by providing his /her mobile number, nearest station, default booking train type, class, ticket type, number of passengers and frequently travelled routes. After successful registration, 'R –Wallet' will be created automatically with zero balance.

'R-Wallet' can be recharged either through UTS counter, web portal and mobile app through Debit/Credit Card. A bonus of 5 per cent is given on every recharge of 'R-wallet'. For example, for a recharge of Rs100, Rs 105/- will be credited to the user's 'R-wallet'. Booking a ticket through this mobile app is not only the time saving but also results in money-saving for the user.
