In a first, Union Bank starts mobile Aadhaar enrolment van

For the first time in India, a "Mobile Aadhaar Enrollment" van was launched on Tuesday in Mumbai by Union Bank of India to enable Aadhaar card enrolment availability for people at their doorstep.

"We have signed an MoU with Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) and plan to open Aadhaar-related bank kiosks at their 20,000 petrol pump outlets for the benefit of senior citizens, physically-challenged, besides seeding/linking of Aadhaar number to bank accounts," said Vinod Kathuria, Executive Director, Union Bank of India.

Noting that the Aadhaar Card would be 'base' of mobile banking, he said, "Valentine's Day truly reflected the partnership between the bank and Vakrangee Ltd, that has been engaged as enrolling agency in acting as Registrar on behalf of UIDAI.

"Besides benefitting through the increased mobile connectivity, business generated through our petrol pumps kiosks will offset our costs," he told Millennium Post.
