January Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit expected to garner huge capital for state
GANDHINAGAR: Witnessing a footfall of over 8000, Vibrant Gujarat Startup and Technology Summit (VGSTS) 2018 emerged as a knowledge-sharing platform for tech entrepreneurs which commenced on October 11, 2018, till October 13, 2018.
The three-day event by the Gujarat government at the Exhibition Centre, Gandhinagar, with theme-based pavilions, innovation zones for the exhibition, focused topic sessions, workshops, and demonstration of disruptive technologies. This summit was a forerunner to the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit which will take place in January 2019.
The event was inaugurated by the Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani along with other dignitaries present on the occasion were Vivek Ogra (Chairman, GESIA IT Association), C P Gurnani (CEO & MD Tech Mahindra), Debjani Ghosh (President, NASSCOM), Chad Hensler (Consul & Trade Commissioner at Consulate General of Canada, Mumbai), Ulrika Sundberg (Consul General of Sweden, Consulate of Sweden, Mumbai), and Dr. J N Singh (IAS, Chief Secretary, Govt. of Gujarat) among many other prominent names.
It is further one such example of the government putting efforts into identifying and supporting aspiring entrepreneurs across the country, by providing them with what they need most, finance, guidance and a robust network. Taking forward Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision to transform the country into a digitally empowered society and the knowledge economy, the summit aimed to generate new ideas, select business ideas, create new enterprises, and help these enterprises identify potential clients for kick-starting their business, the state government said.
VGSTS further emphasised on applied knowledge and targeted to educate on business management, while it acted as a platform to bring together all stakeholders and encouraging interactions adding up to exciting collaborations.
Students from schools, IITs and other technical universities took part in the summit.
Interestingly, a solar-powered tractor grabbed all eyeballs which will help millions of farmers bringing down their cost of cultivation, and reducing dependence on expensive fossil fuels. With diesel prices skyrocketing, solar-powered tractors would mean major cost saving for farmers across India, and hence it was no surprise that Hasmukh Patil's tractor drew huge crowds to see, understand, and experience the innovation.
The three-day long event co-organized by Industrial Extension Bureau (iNDEXTb), Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) and GESIA IT Association. "Gujarat aims to deliver solutions and build a startup-ready India that inspires more young minds to take the plunge and disrupt industries which have plenty of opportunities to grow and evolve, thus leading to a technologically-evolved and advanced India of tomorrow," D Thara, Managing Director of GIDC told.
