In cross-currency trade, the rupee plummeted sharply

New Delhi: In cross-currency trade, the rupee plummeted sharply against the pound sterling to end at 93.19 per pound from last weeked level of 92.12 and slumped against the euro to finish at 83.25 from 82.69.

The home currency also lost further ground against the Japanese yen to settled at 64.70 per 100 yens compared with 64.07 earlier.

In the forward market, premium for dollar remained under pressure owing to heavy receiving from exporters.

The benchmark six-month forward dollar premium payable in January 2019 and the far-forward contract maturing in June was quoted at 120-122 paise and 272-274 paise, respectively.
