ICSI reaches 50,000th CS membership mark

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India reached a landmark on Wednesday as its membership reached the mark of 50,000 members. Now, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) has 50,000 CS members.

Arun Jaitley, Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, in the presence of Shyam Agrawal, President, ICSI, awarded the 'Certificate of CS Membership' to the 50,000th member of ICSI, Ashutosh Shukla.

While awarding the certificate to the 50,000th CS member, Arun Jaitley congratulated ICSI on reaching this remarkable landmark in 48 years of its journey.

Arun Jaitley also appreciated the rigorous examination and training structure of the Company Secretaryship (CS) Course maintained by ICSI as its qualified Company Secretaries are further enabling the Indian Corporate Sector in meeting all the strict compliances and other legal requirements under the Companies Act 2013 and Company Secretary's role has become exceedingly important in today's corporate world due to the need of the hour to meet compliances and governance related issues under the new Company Law.

Shyam Agrawal, President ICSI, has sought good wishes of Union Minister Arun Jaitley on this occasion and informed that ICSI is taking various steps for rigorous capacity-building of its members and keeping the CS members updated.

ICSI is a premier professional body set up under an Act of Parliament, i.e., Company Secretaries Act, 1980, for the regulation and development of the profession of Company Secretaries in India.
It functions under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India.

The institute, being a pro-active body, focuses on best and top-quality education to students of Company Secretary's Course and sets standards for CS members. It has 50,000 Members and around 4 lakh students on its roll.
