High-grade wire rods to be our focus product: SAIL chairman

New Delhi/Burnpur: Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is working towards a well-planned product reorientation under which the Company is adding several market-driven, new and value added products to its basket, its chairman Anil Kumar Chaudhary said on Saturday.

Chaudhary, who visited SAIL's IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) at Burnpur, West Bengal, stressed on concentrating to produce high grade and special quality wire rods from the state-of-the-art 0.55 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) Wire Rod Mill.

He said SAIL-ISP is the most modernised plant of the Company, with highly cost effective production processes, and it should focus on producing to its potential and attain its rated capacities.

Chaudhary added that the plant has already produced certain special grades of wire rods and is in the process of developing medium and high grade wire rods which will be suited for the diversified requirements of the industrial sector.
