ESIc marks 68 glorious years' service to nation

NEW DELHI: ESI Corporation celebrated its 68th anniversary as 'ESIC Day' On February 24. In this connection the Corporation organised Special Services Fortnight from 14th February to 28th February.

According to headquarters' instructions, a seminar about beneficiary-related needs for the working class was held on February 25 at GIA by ESIC, SRO, Gurugram, during this fortnight. The seminar was presided over by Director (In-Charge) Ratnesh Kumar Gautam.

Gururgram ESI Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Subhra Gupta, Deputy Directors Sunil Kumar, R S Ram and D P Singh, and Assistant Directors Rita Rani and Rajesh Yadav were also present on the occasion. About 55 members who attended the meeting were represented by Deepak Mani (General Secretary) and J N Mangla (President).

Two minutes' silence was observed to pay homage to the soldiers who were martyred in the Pulwama terrorist attack. After that, an 'Information Booklet on ESIC Gurugram' was unveiled.

Mangla welcomed the participants and said that the benefits/ claims related to ESIC are being settled during this fortnight. In every Branch Office of SRO Gurugram. special Suvidha Samagams are being held for the redress of public grievances.

Similarly, a cleanliness drive is being run in a better way. He said that ESIC Corporation has started the 'Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna', which is beneficial for workers covered under the ESI Act, 1948.

This provides for payment of cash relief, directly to the bank account at the time of unemployment of insured persons and while looking for new jobs, if the insured person fulfills the terms and conditions of the scheme. Gautam said that ESIC Corporation is going to reduce the contribution rates from 4.75 per cent and 1.75 per cent to 4 per cent and 1 per cent respectively. He said that the ESIC headquarters has taken new initiatives like the mobile app 'Chinta se Mukti', Special Helpdesk Facility, Atal Beemit Vyakti Kalyan Yojna for unemployment allowance of working class members.

In this app, an insured person can check ESI contribution details, individual profile, status of claims, ESIC benefit related eligibility. Audio-visual material on ESI Schemes and knowledge banks on health related subjects are available on this app.

It also has the facility to upload ESIC related grievances. At the meet, suggestions were invited from the participants and their problems were sorted out on the spot.

After that, officers answered questions raised by the participants and informed them that the Corporation is organizing a Suvidha Samagams at SRO, Gurugram, on Wednesdays and at every Branch Office on Fridays. Any employer or insured person may attend these Suvidha Samagams with his /her problems or suggestions.
