Burglars arrested, stolen items recovered
On Thursday, a gang of three burglars accused of stealing Rs 20 lakhs were arrested  by Delhi Police in response to a PCR call regarding theft at a property in Arjun Nagar in south Delhi received on Tuesday.

When the police reached the crime scene, they found that the house was ransacked and locks, which were fixed on the main door, were missing. The almirahs in the bedroom were also broken into and things were strewn all over the room. Gold and silver jewellery, silver utensils, wrist watches of various foreign brands, laptop, foreign currency of different nations and cameras had been reported stolen from the house.

'The accused were identified as Manoj (21), Bijender Singh (25) and Pramod Gupta (22). Manoj was arrested first from his residence at Nauroji Nagar. Manoj later provided the whereabouts of the other two accused. Bijender was apprehended in Badarpur and Pramod from Sangam Vihar.

During the course of investigation, 'enquiries were made and nearby residents and shopkeepers were questioned to about suspicious movements around the house of complainant,' said Chhaya Sharma, DCP (South-District).

She added that Girish Sinha, who was working in a dental clinic in front of the house had informed that he had seen three boys on Monday at 9 pm, two were on bike and third was on foot. 'With the help of this information, we were able to solve this case The boys on motorcycle went upstairs whereas the third one stayed outside apparently acting as a lookout.'

During interrogation Manoj revealed that he came to know the complainant was going to Vrindavan in UP and that she was planning to invest around Rs 4 lakhs in a religious work. Further, he was aware that the complainant had a US-based brother who sent expensive gifts like watches. He shared the information with Bijender who in turn involved his friend Pramod.

The stolen items, including laptop, watches, camera, jewellery, silver utensils and Rs 20 lakhs were recovered from the accused. The motorcycle with number plate DL3SAY 5196 that was used to commit the crime was also recovered from the accused.
