Bulandshahr gang-rape: 3 including main accused held

Police said that the key accused, the head of a criminal gang from Rajasthan, was arrested from Meerut along with two others. With the arrest of the three, six out of seven accused in the case are now in police custody. “It is a 15 member gang belonging to the Chaimaar tribe which is operational in Rajasthan, UP, Bihar, Uttarkhand and Jharkhand. The gang is also the main suspect in a recent dacoity in Hanumangarh of Rajasthan.”

IG Meerut Sujeet Pandey, while addressing media in Greater Noida, said that the accused were planning to flee abroad to avoid police. The IG claimed to have solved the gang-rape of mother-daughter duo on the NH-91. The IG ended up creating a controversy when he revealed the name of the father of the rape victim in the press conference. He also presented the victim’s father, who is the complainant in the case, in front of the media.

According to the police, the main accused Saleem, alias Bina, alias Diwangi, a resident of Kannauj, was wanted in several criminal cases in the National Capital Region (NCR) and other states. The other two accused, Zubair alias Pervez and Sajid belonging from Kannauj. The accused were arrested from Mawana area of Meerut near Naveen Mandi on Monday night when they were planning to escape to Bijnor first and then to some other country. The police have already arrested three persons — Raisuddin, Shahwez and Jabar Singh. Fatih, the last accused, is still at large.

Police said the accused fled to Bihar and Jharkhand after the crime. According to the police, the entire planning of the incident took place in Kithore following which they conducted recce with the help of Riyasuddin who is a local. On the night of incident the accused reached Bulandshahr from where they boarded a mini bus to reach the spot and conducted the crime after stopping the victims’ vehicle forcefully.
