Building collapse: Jaya announces solatium, assures justice for victims

I’m shocked to know that ten persons have lost their lives. I extend my deep condolences to the families of those who lost their dear ones,’ Jayalalithaa said.
She also ordered the district administration in Kancheepuram to ensure medical treatment to the injured and arrange for their safe return back home on government expenses. The chief minister also wished that the injured get well soon.

Jayalalithaa also commended the rescue teams in the accident spot, which comprise personnel and officials from Kancheepuram district administration, police, fire and rescue, Department of Public Health, Public Works Department, Highways, Chennai Corporation, Chennai Metro Rail, National Disaster Response Force and others for their timely service.

Rescue operations are on full swing at Moulivakkam near Porur, about 20 km from here, where the multi-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile,  Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday announced an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh each to the kin of Telugu workers who were killed in a building collapse in Chennnai.
Naidu, who reviewed the building collapse incident with officials here, has asked state minister K Mrinalini to rush to the site of the accident in Chennai and supervise the rescue and relief operations, a TDP release said here.

Many of victims of the tragedy are said to be natives of Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh.
