BSP MP’s daughter-in-law found dead in Gzb

Kavi Nagar SHO Ashok Shishodia said that family members rushed a profusely bleeding Himanshi Kashyap (29) with gunshot injury on her head to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Police sprang into action after getting information from other sources and reached the hospital where a medico-legal memo confirmed that she was brought dead by family members.

Her husband Sagar Kashyap, a doctor by profession and is presently pursuing MD in microbiology from Subharti medical college. He told police that she had committed suicide using his licensed pistol. A police team immediately reached the spot and collected evidence. Police were ascertaining whether it was a case of suicide or murder, as no suicide note was recovered from the spot. Police suspect at the time of the incident the door of the bathroom was not locked from inside. “The family did not inform the police about the incident. The police came to know about it from the hospital memo. Since the case is under investigation, it cannot be said whether it was a suicide or murder. The body has been sent for autopsy, the report of which is awaited,” said Salman Taj, SP (City).

Himani’s father Hira Lal Kashyap, former minister in the Mayawati government, alleged that she had been murdered. He said that his daughter’s in-laws were harassing her over a Fortuner (SUV) and jewellery, and she was beaten up by her mother-in law on several occasions. He said when he visited Himani on Tuesday, she wanted him to take her back home  but couldn’t because of societal pressure. He also said that he spoke to Narender Kashyap thrice in this regard but nothing came of it. He also lodged a police complaint of dowry death against Himani’s in-laws at Kavinagar police station.

A police source claimed that there were some unanswered questions which meant that it was not an open and shut case.

Himanshi, the daughter of former BSP minister Hiralal Kashyap was married to Sagar three years ago and the couple have a one-year-old son.

Prima facie it is a case of suicide, police said, adding the body has been sent for post mortem. So far we have not received any complaint, the SHO said.
