BSP chief demands Prez rule in UP now

Demanding President’s rule in Uttar Pradesh for the government’s failure to control crime, Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati said that the goons of the ruling Samajwadi Party have turned ‘reckless’ and were creating ‘terror’ in the society.

‘I appeal to Governor B L Joshi to give an honest report to the Centre so that it could use its Constitutional powers to impose President’s rule in the state. It will save people from the misrule of the Samajwadi Party government in next four year,’ said Mayawati.

Addressing a press conference here, Mayawati said that she will continue to demand for President’s rule in the state through media as these SP goons have become reckless and are terrorising the people.

‘The situation in UP has turned worse in just one year of the SP rule as even court was forced to intervene in several matters. Jungleraj is prevailing in the state and the people are now cursing the day when SP came to power,’ she claimed.

The outburst of  Mayawati came in the wake of verbal war between SP and BSP duirng last few days. The senior SP minister Shiv pal Singh Yadav, had reacted strongly to Mayawati’s  calling SP workers as ‘goons’ and said it would compel SP leaders to call Mayawati names if verbal tirade from her side continued.

Assuring the people that whenever BSP comes to power in the state these goons would be put in jail, she also suggested that the SP government to take action against the criminals and put them in jail, so that the people could get respite from bad governance. When asked about why she did not put Mulayam Singh Yadav in jail even after making announcement during the 2007 assembly elections, Mayawati said that as my party leaders suggested that Mulayam Singh Yadav was already punished by the people in the assembly elections, hence there was no need to put him in jail.

Meanwhile, Mayawati did not rule out helping Samajwadi Party Lok Sabha member Jaya Prada or taking her in the party after the recent incident in which the Bollywood star’s vehicle was seized by ARTO of Rampur.

‘I will discuss the matter with my senior leaders and then decide what to do on Jaya Prada issue,’ commented Mayawati when she was asked about her decision after Jaya Prada sought Mayawati’s help in the matter.

Jaya Prada had to face the wrath of the UP government when her vehicle with red becon was seized in Rampur and she alleged that the ARTO even insulted her. Jaya had already approached Lok Sabha speaker and others raised the matter on other platforms. Meanwhile, BSP is holding an all important meeting of the party leaders including MPs, Legislators, LS candidates and other officials here on Wednesday.
