BSF Jawan arrested on molestation charges

Police said that the victim is a resident of Srinagar area of Habra and visited the fair, along with her mother and a friend. It was alleged that a BSF jawan, Tapan Adhikari, was after the girl for sometimes. When the victim entered in the fair, the accused was following and taunting her.

 When the girl’s friend protested against the incident, the accused slapped her. When the girl’s mother told the accused jawan that she would inform the matter to the police, the accused allegedly threatened them with dire consequences.

The victim told the police that the accused has been disturbing her for quite sometimes and was giving indecent proposals to her. As the girl refused his proposal, the accused tried to force her into a relationship.

 But on Wednesday, the incident turned ugly when the victim was visiting the fair. The accused allegedly hurled abusive languages towards the girl as she said she will not establish any relationship with the accused.

The victim’s family members later lodged a complaint at Habra police station on the basis of which police raided the house of the accused, Tapan and his associate, Surajit Roy on Wednesday night and arrested them on the charges of molesting a girl. 

The two accused, however, expressed their innocence and claimed that they did not molest the girl and they have been framed. They were produced before the Barasat Court on Thursday.
