BRPL’s neighbourhood electrician training initiative a success

In response to popular demand from various RWAs in south and west Delhi, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) conducted series of trainings on ‘Essentials of Internal Wiring & Meters’ to train and educate neighbourhood electricians, especially those nominated by RWAs. Around 250 participants attended the two training sessions conducted at Safdurjung Enclave in south Delhi and Tilak Nagar in west Delhi.

The training program me launched a few years ago by BSES has trained over 1,000 neighborhood electricians. BRPL’ in-house experts conduct these trainings, which include exhaustive inputs to enhance both skills and knowledge of the electricians for the safety of all electrical goods and that of consumers.

Neighborhood electricians were informed about various issues relating to internal house wiring, prevention of short circuits and electrical fires, importance of installing earth leakage circuit breakers (ELCB’s), and its various functions.

In addition, the training session also served as a refresher course for those trained earlier to share their field-level real-life experiences with those attending the programme for the first time. BRPL, this time also invited reputed manufacturers to share the training platform to interact directly with electricians.

The programme also mentored the participating electricians on energy conservation modules including teaching them on how to determine whether the appliance is electrically efficient or not, a preventive action at this stage can help a lot in reducing the electricity consumption and thus electricity bill.

Many electricians expressed their desire to undertake the full course to understand more about energy efficiency and electricity cost reduction at domestic front.

According to BRPL CEO  Gopal Saxena, ‘The very fact that we have been receiving many requests from RWA’s and other stakeholders, urging us to conduct training programmes for their electricians, shows the effectiveness and success of the programmes. To make the programme a big success, BRPL had pro actively asked the RWAs to nominate their colony electricians for these training camps’.
