Brother-in-law, aide arrested for acid attack on four sisters

Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a close relative of the four sisters of Shamli in Mizaffarnagar on whom acid was thrown on 2 April when they were returning home.
All these sisters were teachers and in invigilation duty in a neighbouring school.
Police sources said that brother-in-law of the girls Babar and his friend Javed have been arrested while two other accused are absconding.
In the incident, one of the sister identified as Quamarjahan was critically injured and was admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital in New Delhi. Other three sisters – Ayesha, Esha and Sonam also sustained minor burn iin the incident.
The accused revealed that Babar wanted Ayesha to marry his friend Javed, but she refused to the proposal which annoyed them. Babar and Javed contacted two youths and gave them Rs 40,000 to throw acid on the girls.
The youth who threw the acid were yet to be arrested.
