British Council to hold film marathon across India

A line-up of 20 British films will be showcased as part of the newly launched 20 films 20 week programme by the British Council. Starting September this year until January 2017, this 20-week long movie marathon will traverse across New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata Ahmedabad, Pune, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bangalore showcasing some of the best British cinema.

With a planned schedule of one film per week, 20 films will be screened in each of British Council’s nine centres and libraries. The programmes will display movies based on varied themes ranging from children’s favourites to gripping drama features.

Coinciding with Roald Dahl Day on September 13, this month will commemorate the exceptional contributions of Roald Dahl in children’s lives by screening some of his famous works including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

In October, films on women will be screened keeping in mind the International day of the Girl Child.
In November, the documentary David Bowie: Five Years, which covers the five most important years of David Bowie’s career using his songs and archive footage which were considered most creative and influential. In December and January some of the best films would be screened.
