‘Breakups are a big part of life’

‘Breakups are a big part of life’
After our break up, I see my girlfriend very happy without me! I’m really sad.
Thomas, New Delhi
Take this as a lesson - this is an opportunity for you to grow up and act like a man! If you can’t do that then you are not old enough to be in a relationship with any woman. Break ups and heartaches are a part of life.

Don’t get affected and please don’t be upset because she is happy without you!! Everyone has the right to happiness and may be, life without you is her choice. Act like a good friend and move on with a positive frame of mind.

I am dating someone for the last 13 years. We are together since childhood but now I’m not sure anymore. How should I tackle this?
Sonya, Nagpur
The younger you are, the easier it is to be flexible. The life you imagine for yourself – especially when you’re still in college or fresh out in the world – isn’t necessarily the one that you’ll actually want, or even end up in. In fact, there will be plenty of times that you’ll find that your expectations and dreams have changed and you’re holding onto those old dreams out of habit or nostalgia.
Before you pull the trigger, you need to take some time to think about just how firmly you’re committed to your current life and relationship… and whether you’re willing to make some sacrifices in the name of your ‘love’.

The decision to hold on and never let go is the biggest decision that you need to make. Give time and I’m sure you will take the right step.

I don’t want to marry. My parents insist that I get married to their friend’s daughter next year. She’s nice but I’m just not ready. How do I convince them?

Just stick to your decision and don’t work under pressure. Marriage and the decision should never be taken under any kind of threat or compulsion.
Parents will have their opinion but it is upto you to be firm and express your mind. If they keep insisting, meet the girl and talk to her about your plans of not getting married now. Get married only when your heart wants to. Good luck!

I’m 4.6”tall. My friends always tease me and I don’t know what to do!
Olivia, Mumbai
Oh dear! There’s no need to feel insecure and upset. If you put on a big smile and ignore the teasing, it’ll eventually stop. Don’t let it affect you at all! Short people are cute and adorable.
Hold your head high and be a sweet person. Everybody out there has something they don’t like about themselves. We are loved and remembered by how we are not by how we look. So just enjoy the joyride called life.
