4-year-old accused of raping classmate in school in Delhi

New Delhi: A four-year-old has been accused of allegedly raping his classmate in a Delhi school. The mother of the minor wants the accused to be expelled from school.

Furthermore, the mother of the victim also blamed the school authorities for negligence and not taking her complaint seriously.

The police say that they are yet to ascertain the identity of the culprit.

The boy has been booked for rape after the girl told her mother that he used a sharpened pencil and fingers to sexually assault her in the classroom and washroom of the school on Friday.

The police said they are dealing with the child with "utmost sensitivity". "The boy is being counselled by an NGO," said Dependra Pathak, Delhi Police's chief spokesperson.

A case of rape under section 376 of IPC and section 21 of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has been filed by Delhi Police on a complaint submitted by the girl's mother. The police have roped in the Child Welfare Committee to counsel the child. The school administration has been asked to join the investigation.
