Boy stabbed after altercation during game of gilli danda

A 19-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed by four persons after a scuffle broke out between them over a game of gilli danda in East Delhi’s Geeta Colony on Tuesday, police said on Wednesday. 

The victim identified as Vinod who was stabbed in the abdomen by the four accused, was stated to be stable at the GTB hospital.

According to police, the incident took place on Tuesday, at around 4.45 pm near Radha Swamy Satsang Bhawan, when the victim was playing a game of gilli danda along with the four accused — 
Devender (24), Deepanshu (23), Deepak( 24) and Chirag (22). While they were playing the game, Vinod inadvertently hit Devender with the gilli. 

An enraged Devender started an argument with Vinod after which the argument took a violent turn. “The four accused started beating the victim after which Devender took out a knife and stabbed Vinod and later fled the spot. 

Locals saw the boy lying in a pool of blood after which they informed the police,” said a senior police official. A team was constituted to find the accused and the accused who were hiding in various parts of East Delhi and were apprehended at around midnight. 

“All the accused have been arrested and they have all confessed to their crimes. We have also recovered the weapon of offence,” the official added.
