Boy shows presence of mind bites kidnapper’s hand to escape

Exhibiting a presence of mind, an 11-year-old boy managed to escape from the clutches of his two kidnappers after biting the hand of one of his abductors, police said on Sunday. The boy, <g data-gr-id="21">Vansh</g> Puri, told police that he left his house at 9.30 am on Tuesday to buy chocolates in South Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar.

“A man accosted the boy on the pretext of enquiring about an address. In the meantime, his accomplice shoved the boy into a waiting vehicle parked close by and covered the child’s mouth and eyes,” the Lajpat Nagar police stated in an FIR based on <g data-gr-id="22">Vansh’s</g> statement. 

The kidnappers drove for a few kilometres before stopping the vehicle. As one of the abductors stepped out, the boy bit the hand of the other man and fled. He hid behind vehicles parked along in the area and managed to reach his grandmother’s house in Krishna Market near Lajpat Nagar. Vansh’s grandmother then called his father. The boy said both men slapped him and tore his T-shirt, and that he could not identify them since both had covered their faces. 

<g data-gr-id="23">Vansh</g> said the men must have been between the age of 40-45. While the man who held him had grey hair and was of dark complexion, the other driving the vehicle had grey sideburns. Vansh’s father Ajay Puri runs commerce coaching centres in Lajpat Nagar and Nehru Place.  Ajay Puri said a bank employee residing in Jungpura was eyeing his property and had threatened him of dire consequences. 

The police have registered a case against unknown persons on <g data-gr-id="24">charge</g> of kidnapping.
