Boy rescued, 3 kidnappers held

A five-year-old boy was rescued from the clutches of his three kidnappers who were arrested, police said on Tuesday.

Additional Commissioner of Police (central) Devesh Srivastava said the arrested persons have been identified as Mohammad Kasim (24), Badre Alam (22) and Raja Hasan Kadri (20). They were arrested from near Filmistan Cinema in central Delhi, where they had come to collect the ransom amount.

Kasim was known to the victim's family, as he was a former employee of the victim's uncle, who is into light and decoration business. Kasim's father is a 'Moulvi' at a mosque in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar.

The matter came to light on Sunday night after the boy's father, a resident of Shaadipur, made a call to the police. On the same night, Srivsatava said, the father received a call and the unknown caller demanded Rs 5 lakh.

The kidnapper had asked the complainant to come near Filmistan Cinema with the ransom amount in an auto rickshaw. The complainant was sent there in a rickshaw being driven by an investigating officer in civilian clothes. Their interrogation, led to the arrest of Kadri who was with the victim at a small house in Sadar Bazar area. The boy, who was kidnapped on the pretext of giving him ice-cream, was also rescued, added Srivastava.
