Box bomb explodes in Sealdah-Barrackpore section, services disrupted

Train services in Sealdah-Barrackpore section was disrupted for a while after a box bomb exploded near the railway track between Jagaddal and Shyamnagar. However, no injury was reported in the incident.

Police said that the local people heard a loud noise and saw that a box bomb that was lying near the down line which exploded near the rail gate number 26. The local people saw that another box bomb was lying at the spot. A railway gangman came to know about the incident from the local people and informed the matter to the police. After being informed the Government Railway Police along with bombs squad personnel reached the spot and defused the bomb. The railway authorities had managed to run the Sealdah bound trains through up lines. The situation came to normal and the trains started running on the down line after nearly an hour. As a result of the incident railway authorities decided not to run the down trains through the track as there was a bomb laying near the track. The authorities did not want to take any risk. Some Sealdah bound down trains were stranded in different stations for a while.
