The essence of Odisha came alive at the Capital stage. Parichay Foundation organised the show titled Essence of Odisha on 11 October at Chinmay Mission, Lodhi Road. Geeta Mahalik, regarded by many, as one of the finest exponents of the Indian classical dance form ofOdissi performed at the show. The Government of India honoured her, in 2014, with the Padma Shri for her services to the field of art and culture.
Mahalik started learning dance at a very early followed by training under Mayadhar Raut which helped her to develop a style which many connoisseurs described as sheer poetry in motion.
She has travelled extensively, performing in many countries across the globe like France, Switzerland, China, Italy, Spain, USA, Canada, Germany, Portugal, Greece and many other countries in the African continent.
She has also performed at almost all of the major dance festivals in India, Khajuraho Dance Festival, Ellora Dance Festival, Elephanta Dance Festival, Konarak Dance Festival, Mahabalipuram Festival, Mukteswar Dance Festival, Badri Kedar Utsav, Taj Festival, Kalidas Samaroh at Ujjain, Ganga Mahotsav and Mandu Festival featuring among them.
Parichay Foundation is a philanthropic organisation founded with a commitment of promoting Indian art, Culture and bringing economic and social upliftment for underprivileged women and children in urban and rural Odisha, Bihar and Delhi. Through this performing event foundation going to support the women and children who has accused by different cause.
