Body of youth with face smashed in found at Howrah

Police suspect that the victim was stoned to death. The incident has reminded the stone man murders that had created much furore in the state in late 80’s.

Local people who take a stroll at the Bijoyananda Park, Narsingha Dutta road had found the body lying inside the park with his face disfigured.

After being informed, the police reached the spot. They found a concrete chunk smeared with blood which was used for killing the victim.Police said that the victim was wearing a half pant and t-shirt.

Police were facing difficulties to identify the body as the face of the youth was completely disfigured.
Police are yet to ascertain the identity of the victim and also the reason behind the murder.
Police suspect that an old rivalry might have led to the incident.

They also suspect that the victim along with some others was taking cannabis (ganja) in the area and a quarrel might have been broken out over some issues.

It may be mentioned that few days ago, a body of a youth was found at Howrah’s Golabari area with his face smashed with heavy substance.Police have sent the body for the post-mortem examinations.

Senior police officers of Howrah Commissionerate have said that the incident has nothing to do with the stone man incidents that had become a serious issue in middle or late 80’s when many footpath dwellers and vagabonds were crushed to death.

After carrying out series of crime the stone men used to disappear. In 1989 around 13 people in Kolkata were killed by stone men but the police had failed to solve the mystery.
