Body of minor found, kin allege rape-murder by money lender

Mystery shrouds the death of a seven-year-old girl whose body was recovered from near a jute mill at Champdani in Hooghly on Wednesday after she was missing from Tuesday evening. The victim’s family members alleged that Hari Om, a jute mill worker, had raped her and then murdered her as the victim’s father who works at the same jute mill had failed to repay a loan of Rs 11,000 to the accused.

The family members of the girl said that the accused had threatened them with dire consequences after the girl’s father had failed to repay the amount. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim’s family members the police have held the accused and have started a probe in this regard.
