BMW collides into auto, three critically injured

Another incident of careless driving of a luxury car capable of superspeed came to light on Monday. Around 9.30 in the morning, a BMW rammed into an auto-rickshaw at Copernicus Marg in the capital. Three persons, including a woman who was a Kerala-based teacher, were injured critically.

All three of them were taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. Later, it was identified that the driver was a south Delhi-based businessman. On his way from Mandi House, he revved his car only to collide head on with an auto-rickshaw that was going towards Mandi House.

'The auto driver and the woman, who was his passenger as well as the businessman suffered critical injuries and were taken to the Hospital where they are undergoing treatment. The auto driver has suffered the most,' said a senior police officer.

He added that the BMW driver who rammed his car into the auto-rickshaw, was identified as Ravinder Singh, a resident of Chirag Delhi and runs a business in South Delhi. A case under Section 279 (rash and negligent driving) has been registered against Singh and he was arrested. But he was released on bail later.

On Saturday, a case of hit and run of BMW happened in Gurgaon. A pregnant lady along with her husband were killed in the incident. The incident took place near IFFCO Chowk metro station. Last month, two incidents took place in the capital where a police constable was killed after a Mercedes banged into his patrol bike. A girl was also killed when a Toyota Corolla crashed into her.
