Black bands, slogans to protest non-deliverance of pension

Members of the Opposition Congress in the BJP-ruled North MCD  on Thursday wore black bands and raised slogans in the civic body’s House to protest against the non-payment of pensions to its former employees for the last 13 months. Threatening to stall the proceedings of the House in the coming days, Opposition members said that the ruling party is not paying heed to the need of the elderly people.

Mukesh Goel, Leader of Opposition, said that the Corporation is doing injustice with the poor people who are unable to meet their daily requirements without the pension money. “The BJP is putting all efforts to stop releasing pensions which <g data-gr-id="16">is</g> not acceptable in any manner. Elderly people have been getting pensions for the past 50 years from the civic agency. Today (Thursday) we have marked our protest with black bands and if <g data-gr-id="14">pension</g> is not released we will intensify our protest,” Goel said.
