BJP workers pelt stones at police during protest

The state-wide protest rallies organised by the BJP against the deteriorating law and order situation turned violent when the party workers allegedly pelted stones at the police.

The incident took place when a police team reached the spot to clear the blockade which was affecting the traffic movement.  According to information, some BJP workers were injured in South 24-Parganas during the lathicharge.

BJP leaders said the workers had participated in the law violation programme.

Party’s national secretary in-charge of West Bengal Kailash Vijayvargiya and state vice- president Rupa Ganguly staged a demonstration to protest against police highhandedness in Nadia. They said that the police had attacked the party supporters without any reason. They said that the district administration was also informed in advance. On Friday morning, when BJP workers were about to launch the rally, some policemen came and asked them to withdraw the movement. When they refused, a scuffle broke out between the party supporters and police.
