BJP ups the ante on Manmohan Singh

Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), on Thursday condemned the price hike in diesel and the cap on cylinders by restricting it to six cylinder per year per household.  ‘This price rise will have a cascading effect on inflation and price rise’ said BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar. The BJP leader added that the diesel price rise is like putting fire to the coal scam.

The party will also launch an eight day agitation all across the country from September 17,demanding the resignation of prime minister in wake of the coal scam. The party will be submitting memorandums to governors and district collectors on the three demands that the party has been making regarding coal allocation. These decisions were taken at the core committee meeting of the party.

The party has been demanding, cancellation of 142 coal block, resignation of the prime minister and  an independent probe by the Special Investigative Team (SIT). Party leaders informed that further course of action will be taken in the national executive of the party that will be held from 26 September to 28 September in Surajkund, Haryana.

BJP on Thursday also  condemned the statement made by the prime minister on the media in which he said that media should exercise restraint and avoid sensationalism. ‘The prime minster criticises any thing that tries to speak against him’ said BJP general secretary J P Nadda. The BJP leader added that the prime minister needs to go for self introspection.

Nadda said that the Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) and the enquiry by Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) into the coal block  allocation is mere eyewash by the party.

‘The head of the CBI is prime minister so it is difficult for the agency to investigate’ said Nadda.
