BJP may admit Abhijeet despite controversies

Amid various controversies, popular Bollywood singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya finally seems to have found his shelter under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Sources said, Abhijeet is likely to join BJP. He met the party president Amit Shah on Monday at the party headquarters in New Delhi.

Recently, various charges of molesting and assaulting have surfaced against him. Before couple of months a woman registered an FIR against Abhijeet in the Vasant Kunj Police Station in the national capital for abusing.

Last month Aam Admi Party leader Preeti Sharma Menon also filed a complaint against the singer at the Cyber Cell of Mumbai Police for usage of “obscene” language on social media towards a woman journalist. A case has been registered under IPC section 500 (punishment for defamation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of IPC and section 67 of the Information Technology Act. He also tweeted that the murder of an Infosys techie in Chennai was the result of “love jihad”.

Even a 34-year-old woman from Versova had accused playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya of “touching her inappropriately” and “abusing and threatening” her during a concert of singer Kailash Kher during the Durga Puja celebrations in the last year.

Sources also said, he might be given responsibility in the state wing of West Bengal as BJP is in a major move to expand its wing more in the border state West Bengal. After Assam the incumbent party at the center considers the state as an important part of its strategy in strengthening and expanding saffron  more in the east part of India.
