BJP hit by another protest, this time over entry of JD(U) leader

Within hours of Ali being inducted, Naqvi made his unhappiness clear releasing a message on micro-blogging site twitter saying, ‘Terrorist Bhatakal friend join BJP...soon accepting dawood......... (sic).’

Sabir Ali joined the BJP earlier in the day in the presence of party general secretary in charge for Bihar Dharmendra Pradhan and Sudhanshu Trivedi, political adviser to party president Rajnath Singh. Ali was expelled from the JD(U) after he had praised BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and made anti-party remarks.

Soon after release of his message on twitter, Naqvi went on air saying that not only was terrorist Yasin Bhatkal arrested from the house of Sabir Ali but the leader had also defended the Indian Mujahidden activist. When asked if he was feeling threatened by the entry of another Muslim face in the party, Naqvi said, ‘I welcomed when a person like MJ Akbar joined the party. If Pramod Muthalik’s membership of the party can be cancelled for being aggressive proponent of Hinduvta philosophy, I am sure the party would certainly revise its stand on the entry of a terror sympathizer.’

Naqvi got support from another party functionary Rameshwar Chourasia, who said that he was taken aback by the decision of party leadership. This is the third instance in the last few days of the entry of a leader inviting open dissent. Earlier party leader Sushma Swaraj had protested induction of B Sriramulu in Karnataka and Col Sonaram Choudhary in Rajasthan.

Insiders say that Sabir’s induction, who initially entered Rajya Sabha as Lok Janshakti Party leader before hopping to JD (U) and now in the BJP, was facilitated by a faction of Bihar BJP leadership led by former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi and general secretary incharge Dharmendra Pradhan.
