BJP follows Akhilesh, promises free laptops in Karnataka

In its attempt to catch up with young voters, the BJP unveiled a slew of programmes in the party manifesto released on Friday. Taking a leaf out of Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav’s book, the party has decided to provide free laptops and tablets to PUC and graduate students. The party also promised free internet facilities at government schools and colleges and free Wi-Fi and internet for all schools and colleges.

The manifesto speaks about setting up of Bangalore Environment Corporation for preserving ecology, environment and lakes. For the purpose of environment protection and waste processing, the establishment of Municipal Solid Waste Management Authority has been promised.

The manifesto explained that the party would constitute Karnataka women rights commission and providing 50 per cent reservations to women in local bodies. It is also promised to establish four satellite towns around Bangalore to reduce congestion. The manifesto also promises a discount on the water bill for people who reuse and recycle water and helicopter ambulance services on lines of 108 ambulance services to over come traffic congestion and quick delivery of emergency health services. The manifesto also promises enactment of Bangalore Region Metropolitan Governance Bill to improve the governance of the city.
