BJD, JD (U) ups the ante against fuel price hike

JD-U today stepped up its offensive against the government on FDI in multi-brand retail, diesel hike and coal controversy and questioned the ‘delay’ on the part of Congress President Sonia Gandhi in taking action against ministers and MPs in coalgate. However, the JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav heaped lavish praise on UPA constituent Mamata Banerjee for her ‘tough stand’ against FDI in multi-brand retail.

Upping the ante on the UPA govt Odisha’s ruling Biju Janata Dal Monday held rallies, demonstrations and meetings in different parts of the state, in intensified protests against the diesel price hike and the restriction on the supply of subsidised cooking gas cylinders. In Bhubaneswar, nearly 4,000 party workers and leaders went in procession, shouting slogans against Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, senior BJD leader Sanjay Das Burma said.
